Quick answer

The seven endings of The Blood of Dawnwalker are seven distinct narrative resolutions, not a hierarchy of good and bad outcomes. Each ending tells a different story about Coen's relationship with Vale Sangora, the Vrakhir, the three boyar courts, and his own half-vampire nature. The endings are gated by Anachora choice, Corruption level, boyar allegiance state, and Esme outcome.

Key facts

  • Number of endings: Seven, mutually exclusive.
  • One per run: Each save file ends on one ending. New runs to see other endings.
  • Gating variables: Anachora choice, Corruption level, boyar allegiance states, Esme outcome.
  • Trophy: Reaching any non-Lost ending unlocks the "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy.
  • Platinum: Earning all other 46 trophies unlocks the Platinum "Dawnwalker: The Complete Saga".

Dawn Bringer — the human-aligned ending

Narrative summary: Coen stands with the city defenders to the end. The siege is broken, but the cost is high. Esme is saved; the three boyars survive; Brencis is defeated but not destroyed.

Gating: Anachora refused. Corruption below 8. All three boyars in non-hostile state. Esme outcome favorable.

Narrative tone: Triumphant but somber. The city is saved; Coen has paid for it with blood and skill points.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. The chapter-close cinematic shows the city standing.

Night Sovereign — the vampire-aligned ending

Narrative summary: Coen accepts Brencis's offer and joins the Vrakhir. The city falls; Coen rises within the Vrakhir hierarchy. Esme's outcome is determined by a final choice — she can be spared or not.

Gating: Anachora refused. Corruption 15 or above. Brencis offer accepted. Boyar loyalty check failed with at least one boyar.

Narrative tone: Dark and ambiguous. Coen has power but at the cost of his humanity.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. The chapter-close cinematic shows the Vrakhir occupying the city.

Faded Memory — the refusal-of-choice ending

Narrative summary: Coen accepts the Anachora's gift on night one. Across the rest of the run, Coen becomes increasingly detached. By chapter close, he is no longer attached to the city, the boyars, or Esme. The ending shows Coen walking away from Vale Sangora without a clear destination.

Gating: Anachora accepted on night one.

Narrative tone: Melancholic. The game frames this as a sad ending, not a triumphant one.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. This is the only ending that requires the Anachora accept path.

Crimson Pact — the betrayal-and-failure ending

Narrative summary: Coen accepts Brencis's offer, but the loyalty check with one of the three boyars fails. The boyar turns on Coen, and the chapter closes with Coen caught between Brencis and the hostile boyar. The city falls; Coen is caught in the crossfire.

Gating: Anachora refused. Brencis offer accepted. At least one boyar loyalty check fails.

Narrative tone: Tragic. Coen tried to play both sides and paid for it.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. The chapter-close cinematic shows Coen trapped between factions.

Last Light — the sacrificial ending

Narrative summary: Coen refuses both the Anachora's gift and Brencis's offer. The chapter close triggers with Coen having rejected every faction. The siege ends with the city intact but Coen sacrificing himself to break the Brencis siege.

Gating: Anachora refused. Brencis offer refused. Corruption stable (between 5 and 12). All three boyars in non-hostile state.

Narrative tone: Sacrificial and redemptive. Coen's refusal to choose is reframed as the ultimate choice.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. The chapter-close cinematic shows Coen making the final stand.

Twilight Walker — the balanced-state ending

Narrative summary: Coen balances the three boyar courts and keeps Corruption in the middle range. The siege ends with a negotiated peace. Coen is neither fully aligned with the city nor with the Vrakhir; he exists in the "twilight" state between them.

Gating: Anachora refused. Brencis offer refused (or not yet triggered). Corruption between 8 and 12. All three boyars in non-hostile state.

Narrative tone: Bittersweet. The city survives; Coen is caught between identities.

Trophy impact: Unlocks "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy. The chapter-close cinematic shows Coen standing between the factions.

The Lost — the collapse ending

Narrative summary: Coen's Corruption drops below 1 or exceeds 18 before chapter close. The boyars lose faith in him; Esme's outcome is determined by the final quest state. Coen is left with no path forward.

Gating: Anachora refused. Corruption outside 1-18 range. Boyar allegiance states mixed.

Narrative tone: Cold and final. The game frames this as a "you ran out of options" ending.

Trophy impact: Does NOT unlock "Dawn or Doom" Gold trophy (this is the only ending that doesn't).

How do players see all seven endings?

Players need seven runs minimum. Each run takes ~30-50 hours depending on completionist play. The platinum trophy requires all 47 trophies plus all seven endings.

The fastest path to all seven endings is to use the endings tracker to plan each run around one ending, then use save files before the Anachora choice to switch branches.
